World number one Sinner has dominated over the past 18 months but only recently returned from a three-month doping ban.

British number one Katie Boulter speaking after her first-round win: "It's my first victory here at Roland Garros. Honestly, I'm really pleased with myself. I sometimes find it really difficult on this surface and I've kind of persevered and tried my hardest to bring some good tennis.

"It's obviously my first Roland Garros win, you never forget those so this one is special for me and it'll go in my books. I'm really happy today and I'm really happy to be back out here in France."

On winning the Trophee Clarins in Paris last week: "It was great for me. It was my first clay court title which means I officially have now got one on every surface, so that means a lot to me. It makes it even more special that it was right here in Paris.

"I have such familiar feelings of this place because I got to play my Olympics doubles match on this court last year, so I had good vibes coming out here today."

Katie Boulter feels she isn't too far away from the finish line now - and she is really roaring herself on with the fist pumps. She is trying to get herself fired up here.

I don't think she wants any more time-wasting. I think she just got pulled into a situation in the first set where she almost couldn't control what was happening.

The first two games of this set have been quite tricky, especially the opening game of this final set.

But Katie Boulter has done such a good job to steady the ship once again. She just needs to keep on forging towards this finish line because I'm sure she felt that she was never doubt of winning this match, but it just became really problematic.

    It's a bit of a messy match.
