Novak Djokovic has double faulted four times across this match and two of those have been in this game alone as the Serb is uncharacteristically sloppy. 30-30.

Djokovic rises high to volley for a 40-30 lead and closes out the game with some serve and volley.

That's the game Musetti had to have to keep any hope at all.

Musetti has to try build on that and forget what the score is - he needs more energy.

Lorenzo Musetti's frustration is starting to boil but he manages to hold on in this service game.

This has been a masterclass in this third set from Novak Djokovic.

It is fantastic to see him back to some of his best tennis like we saw all of last season.

Not only did Lorenzo Musetti have to come through five sets on Wednesday when Novak Djokovic was handed a walkover and an extra day for recovery, but he's played 22 sets in total at Wimbledon over the last two weeks, while the Serb has only had to go through 14.

The Italian looks like he's starting to fatigue, understandably, but he does go on to hold.

    One wrong shot from Musetti.

Lorenzo Musetti is loose with backhand from the baseline and finds the net. He proceeds to reimagine that shot in the hope of improving next time.

A Novak Djokovic double fault means Musetti doesn't need to test out that backhand as he levels at 30-30.

In typical Djokovic fashion he then pulls out his sixth ace of the match and follows with a drop shot to hold.

    Musetti 4-6 6-7 (2-7) 0-0 Djokovic*

Lorenzo Musetti played some sensational tennis in that second set and has undoubtedly pulled off the two best shots of the match - possibly even the tournament - but he has nothing to show for it on the board after just over two hours of action.

    How does he react?

Musetti defends break point and then earns advantage but a Novak Djokovic cross-court volley takes them to third deuce.

Novak Djokovic is one set away from setting up a repeat of last year's final, which turned into an absolute classic with Carlos Alcaraz winning a five-set thriller.

Musetti needs something special to rescue this one after Djokovic smashes away a winner.

Just like at the end of the first set, there was no reaction at all to going two sets up. Just take your seat, keep the crowd unexcited.

Djokovic has been in this position, both in this tournament and at this stage of it, many, many, many times before.

  15. Egberink & Scheffers holdpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 12 July
