*Paul 0-6 1-6 4-4 Alcaraz
Tommy Paul is sticking in this match. He fires a forehand right on the line and gives a wry smile as he returns to his mark.
Alcaraz soon grabs the last laugh though as a drop-shot winner from the Spaniard almost has Paul crashing into the net. Awks!
*Paul 0-6 1-6 4-4 Alcaraz
Ridiculous, just a ridiculous shot from Carlos Alcaraz, coming to the net and wrapping his racquet around the ball to spin it away from Paul.
That's a hold to love.
Paul 0-6 1-6 4-3 Alcaraz*
While I'm praising Alcaraz, Paul fires an ace to hold and lead again in the third. Despite the second seed's dominance, we remain on serve.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 3-3 Alcaraz
Alcaraz is chasing every point down, not letting Paul breathe. How does he get to this latest smash? And return it with control, too!
He's lightning is Alcaraz, even if Paul does eventually finish off the point to move to 40-30.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 3-3 Alcaraz
This game could well signal the end. Alcaraz spins over a forehand on to the sideline that a stationary Paul can only stare at. 0-30.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 3-3 Alcaraz
Boom and boom. Two big serves and Alcaraz holds to 15. Paul's not had a break point yet.
Paul 0-6 1-6 3-2 Alcaraz*
Proof that Carlos Alcaraz is human. He messes up a forehand to give Paul the early initiative.
But he then has Paul on the move and whacks a pace-off pass to go up 30-15. So I guess he's quickly regained his extra-terrestrial status.

Carlos Alcaraz does have these dips, particularly in night sessions.
It is almost as if it gets past his bedtime and his focus just drops a little. He has it during the day as well, to be fair, but I feel like it's always more apparent in the night sessions.
You can sometimes see his energy going, it's almost like air leaving a balloon.
Paul 0-6 1-6 3-2 Alcaraz*
We remain on serve, you've got to admire Tommy Paul digging in. The American battles through to wallop some winners and hold to 30.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 2-2 Alcaraz
Easily Tommy Paul's best period of the match as the American continues to get his first serves in to win the first two points of his latest game.
But once more he's seriously tested when rallies emerge, and Alcaraz finds an angle to rip through Paul's defences. 30-30.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 2-2 Alcaraz
Tommy Paul continues to undercook his forehands, this one doesn't even reach the net, bouncing first on his side.
Is he injured? I think he might be.
Alcaraz dispatches an ace, clipping the T, to hold to 15.
Paul 0-6 1-6 2-1 Alcaraz*
Alcaraz's error count creeps up as the Spaniard thwacks a forehand into the net.
A decent serve has Paul scrambling though and Alcaraz goes to 15-15 in no time at all.

Carlos Alcaraz wants to get this done.
I thought his third-round match against Damir Dzumhur got a lot more exciting and edgy than it needed to be. That much took a lot more energy out of him than it should have done, so he won't want to have another dip in a night session.
He won't want to stay out there longer than needed.
Paul 0-6 1-6 2-1 Alcaraz*
Can Tommy Paul continue his mini-recovery on serve? Yes, yes he can.
The American continues to get his first serves in and gets a properly loud cheer when he holds to love.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 1-1 Alcaraz
Serve out wide, volley at the net into the other corner. No drama as Alcaraz holds to love.
Paul 0-6 1-6 1-0 Alcaraz*
This match feels like a victory parade for Alcaraz now. He hits a fabulous backhand winner down the line and then backs it up with a forehand buried into the same spot.
Paul 0-6 1-6 1-0 Alcaraz*
Tommy Paul is ahead in the third. An eight-minute game ends after Alcaraz can't return Paul's serve.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 0-0 Alcaraz
Finally Paul brings up game point, wellying a cross-court winner at the net.
*Paul 0-6 1-6 0-0 Alcaraz
Nice from Paul. Using the angles to save break point.
