*Paul 0-6 1-2 Alcaraz
Good serve. The first break is saved.
*Paul 0-6 1-2 Alcaraz
Oh it's really not looking good for Paul now. A poor lob, way, way long, sees him slip to 0-40 on serve.
*Paul 0-6 1-2 Alcaraz
We're rattling through the games now as Carlos Alcaraz sends over a love-hold of his own.
Nothing too surprising in that game - apart from a brutal forehand down the line from Alcaraz which is as delicious as the blueberry muffins I've just handed round the BBC office.

Court Philippe Chatrier is on its feet as Tommy Paul holds for the first time tonight - and in style, to love.
He also gets over the line with a strong first serve of his own.

It is just wow, wow and wow from Carlos Alcaraz.
That is the best set of tennis I've seen him play this year on clay, and Tommy Paul has played well tonight. Watch out everybody!
All of the people in those expensive seats, that have just come in, have missed a spectacle for the past half an hour. The ones in the cheap seats, who have been in here from ball one, have really been treated.
*Paul 0-6 0-1 Alcaraz
Alcaraz isn't letting up. He continues his clean sweep of all the games so far by holding to 30 with another tip-top serve.
Paul 0-6 0-0 Alcaraz*
Carlos Alcaraz serves first at the start of the second set and dominates the opening rally, although he does get a little lucky with a strike of the net-cord and eventually that luck runs out as he hammers a forehand into the net.
Paul 0-6 0-0 Alcaraz*
Thirty minutes. That's all it takes for Carlos Alcaraz to wrap up the first set.
We might be on for a very quick match. That was pretty one-sided.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
He might be bageling now though. Alcaraz wins a battle at the net.

You almost feel like Tommy Paul doesn't deserve this possible bagel, just because of the fact that he hasn't played that badly.
But Carlos Alcaraz is having one of those days where he is seeing the tennis ball as being the size of a beach volleyball. He just cannot miss it at the moment.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
His first serves, however, are perfect. Paul aces to save set point.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
Tommy Paul's got to do something different with his second serves in the next set. Alcaraz dispatches his latest for an easy backhand winner.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
Alcaraz goes for another lob attempt and finally gets one a little long. 40-30.
The crowd cheers, sensing Tommy Paul is about to get on the board, but Alcaraz quickly closes the door with a punishing backhand winner. Deuce.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
He's 5-0 up without breaking sweat. Oh, there we go, a rare error as he slams one into the net for 30-30.

I don't think anybody predicted Carlos Alcaraz would be 5-0 up in the opening set, but that's the danger when you are playing somebody like him. He can make you look very silly, very quickly.
This kid's firepower is second to none. When he is on it, he can make you look rather silly out there and that's unfortunately what he's doing to Tommy Paul.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
Tommy Paul's only won 11 points so far. Hang on, make that 12 as he gets to 15-15 with a forehand winner.
*Paul 0-5 Alcaraz
Wow, Alcaraz is storming this set. Another super quick hold with Paul barely getting a look in.

The problem for Tommy Paul is that this is a clay court.
In my opinion, Carlos Alcaraz is the best clay-courter in the world at the moment - so he will need a step up in class if he wants to get the win tonight.
I think Paul will be happy to trade backhand to backhand with Alcaraz all night because his backhand, in my opinion, is slightly better.
Paul 0-4 Alcaraz*
A significantly easier break of serve for Alcaraz as Paul continues his loose shot selection and slides a shot wide.
*Paul 0-3 Alcaraz
Paul gets to 30-15 but then hits a tired forehand inexplicably wide.
30-30, he needs a big serve. But it never clicks for the American and Alcaraz goes on the approach, winning at the net.
