There is nothing the umpire can do about the lights. Anisimova needs to not focus on that. You cannot serve if in the back of your head you already thinking you are going to miss.

There have been short, sharp points recently and this match feels like it is motoring on. Any unforced errors and you give the momentum straight to Sabalenka.

  3. Sabalenka holds to lovepublished at 22:07 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 6-3 1-1 Anisimova*

This light/roof issue seems to still be bothering Anisimova.

It's difficult to understand what she is complaining about as I can't imagine much has changed with the lighting throughout the tournament and Anisimova did play a night match against Osaka so this is not the first time she's having to deal with it.

Anyway Sabalenka takes a very straightforward hold to love.

  4. 'Sabalenka will not back off'published at 22:06 British Summer Time 6 September

    *Sabalenka 6-3 0-1 Anisimova

    Ryan Harrison
Former American tennis player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

It does not seem like Sabalenka is going to back off so Anisimova needs to get some positive momentum going.

The American looks to be holding in all of her anxiety which is not a good sign.

  5. 'Anisimova is looking sulky'published at 22:04 British Summer Time 6 September

    *Sabalenka 6-3 0-1 Anisimova

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Anisimova looks sulky. The occasion does take it out of the players.

The crowd want more entertainment. This match had a promising start but Anisimova is looking negative in her body language.

Everything is bludgeoning from Anisimova. There are no subtleties about her game - it is her way or the highway.

Three deuces later Anisimova takes the hold. That was a tough but crucial hold for the American.

  7. Postpublished at 22:03 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 6-3 0-0 Anisimova*

Anisimova continues to turn to her team in exasperation as she earns game point but then is taken straight back to deuce.

It looks like she's saying "I can't see the ball".

  8. Postpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 6-3 0-0 Anisimova*

Anisimova has hit 10 unforced errors solely off the forehand side so far. That is too many for the American.

She moves to game point but a double fault takes the game to deuce.

Somebody has stuck a pin in the atmosphere. Anisimova did it herself, really.

That service game was a shocker and she started spraying again after that.

Sabalenka is looking the calmer player out there...

    Sabalenka 6-3 0-0 Anisimova*

Anisimova just had a little word with the umpire. It sounded like she was complaining about the lights on Arthur Ashe. She did seem to be struggling with her ball toss.

I'm not sure there's much can be done about that one.

Back under way with set two.

  11. 'Sabalenka has the momentum'published at 21:57 British Summer Time 6 September

    Ryan Harrison

When you are mis-firing shots, you have to learn to dial it back. I hope Anisimova is getting some actual direction on the court from her team. Telling the player to calm down does not usually help the situation.

Sabalenka has the momentum - she needs to keep doing what she is doing.

  12. Game and first set - Sabalenkapublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 6-3 Anisimova

Well after more ups and downs than the big dipper it is the defending champion and top seed who eventually takes the hold and the opening set.

Sabalenka shows consistency and composure to win four games in a row and take the opener.

  13. 'A critical double fault'published at 21:55 British Summer Time 6 September

    *Sabalenka 5-3 Anisimova

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

A critical double fault in that game from Anisimova. It feels like she is slightly rushing which proved to be disastrous.

She took a long hard stare at her support camp who are at the other end of the court - she was on her own in that game.

  14. Sabalenka set pointspublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 6 September

    *Sabalenka 5-3 Anisimova

Thunder rumbles over Arthur Ashe Stadium.

We could use that as a metaphor for Anisimova's mood after a sloppy service game.

  16. Sabalenka breakspublished at 21:53 British Summer Time 6 September

    *Sabalenka 5-3 Anisimova

A wild backhand flies wide and that's the break for Sabalenka.

All of a sudden, after a lot of ups and downs, the defending champion is serving for the set.

  17. Sabalenka two break pointspublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 4-3 Anisimova*

Ooooh dear. Two double faults in one service game for Anisimova.

The errors are really starting to become a problem. When it rains it pours and all that.

    Sabalenka has two break points.

  18. 'Sabalenka will never stop fighting'published at 21:49 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 4-3 Anisimova*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Anisimova does not hold back. She does not give herself much margin but nails her shots more times than I expect.

Sabalenka will never stop fighting. She will keep coming back at you. She spoke about not doubting herself as much before this match.

  19. Sabalenka holdspublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 6 September

    Sabalenka 4-3 Anisimova*

Anisimova has to dive out of the way of a body serve at one point. Sabalenka holds up an apologetic hand but overpowers Anisimova enough to take the hold and nudge back ahead in this first set.

Seriously can not call this one right now.

  20. 'Both are being aggressive, not selective'published at 21:48 British Summer Time 6 September

    *Sabalenka 3-3 Anisimova

    Ryan Harrison
Former American tennis player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

There has already been a big momentum shift in this match. Sabalenka got off to a great start. A lot is going on in the first six games.

Both players are being aggressive. I would like to see one of them be more selective. Some of these balls are hitting close to the baseline - you have absorb instead at times.
