This is the chance for Carlos Alcaraz.

Ugo Humbert's forehand creeps just over the baseline and the defending champion has three break points.

I really appreciate the way Humbert is playing and approaches tactically. Jeremy Chardy has had a positive effect on him and it’s a great sight to see that swinging leftie serve on the ad court.

You can hear the rain absolutely hammering down on the Centre Court roof.

And is the thunder I hear? The crowd all have their heads turned to the roof while play goes on.

To be fair, it hasn't been the most exciting of matches so far.

The rain on the roof of Court One is so loud it's really difficult to hear the ball being struck and the calls from the umpires and line judges. I imagine that could be quite difficult for the players.

With the rain bouncing noisily off the roof on Centre Court, Carlos Alcaraz keeps it on serve on the first.

He holds to 30 again after Ugo Humbert stretches to reach a serve down the T but can only put it into the net.

“Oooooh” comes from the crowd in Court One with the sound of thunder overhead.

The rain is absolutely belting down on the roof here!

  7. Keys back on trackpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 7 July

    *Paolini 6-3 1-2 Keys

    To me, to you...

Madison Keys immediately breaks back and it looks like she's going to herself back on track when she races to 40-15 on serve but Jasmine Paolini just does not give up and she hustles her way back into the game to take us to deuce.

Keys stands firm and takes the hold when Paolini's forehand can only find the net.

It's absolutely bouncing it down on top of the Court One roof, too.

The covers are back on the outside courts and play is once again suspended.

Matches will not resume outside until 14:45 BST at the earliest.

    Comfortable hold for Ugo Humbert.

The greatest moment of drama comes when the ball flies into the crowd and a woman in the second row does brilliantly to fend it off while, crucially, not spilling a drop of her Pimm's.

"Vamos Carlitos" a little kid shouts from somewhere up high in the Centre Court stands. "Come on Carlos".

The rest of the crowd responds with a collective "aww". Very sweet.

We talk about the options that Carlos Alcaraz has, it looks like Ugo Humbert has a few of his own.

Alcaraz used the body serve very well in his match with Frances Tiafoe.

Just as Ugo Humbert was in the first game, Carlos Alcaraz is taken to 30-30 on serve.

The Spaniard also comes through to hold and get himself settled early in the match.

I remember a couple of years ago I told myself not to forget the name Paolini. As a France-based Italy/UK dual national, the last couple of months have been pretty good!

The crowd on Court One go absolutely wild as Jasmine Paolini plays a stunning backhand volley at the net.

The Italian secures the break at the earliest opportunity again as Madison Keys smashes her backhand into the net.

Brilliant from Jasmine Paolini to take the first set.

It’s no wonder the Italian is so happy and bubbly if she’s playing tennis like that!

Ugo Humbert was superb against Cam Norrie when I saw him playing in the Davis Cup. A powerful player who uses his height to his advantage, he could make for an intriguing battle against Alcaraz.

    Nicely played by Ugo Humbert.

No signs of nerves at 30-30 and he secures the holds by following in a serve out wide and slapping a forehand down the line.

    There it is!

Madison Keys can only nudge into the net from Jasmine Paolini's serve and after just 33 minutes the Italian seventh seed is a set to the good.

An impressive performance so far from Paolini.

After Carlos Alcaraz won the toss and chose to receive, it is the left-handed Ugo Humbert to serve first.

He loses the first point to the defending champion but after winning the next two, he goes long with a backhand and it's 30-30.

    An early opportunity for Alcaraz?

The Italian journalist sat behind me has been learning a bit of English lingo it seems.

“It’s raining cats and dogs,” he says as the light on Court One dims.

Despite the cats and dogs falling from the sky, Jasmine Paolini is serving for the first set.
