    *Paolini 5-3 Keys

Madison Keys had to save another break point in her last service game to take a tricky hold but is rattling through this one having managed to nail a couple of first serves.

The American does her job and Jasmine Paolini will serve for the opening set.

The stage is set on Centre Court for Carlos Alcaraz to try and continue his title defence at Wimbledon.

Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the 16th seed, stands in his way today.

As always we've got some famous faces in the Royal Box, including Mary Berry - who has just been given a lovely big cheer as she arrived.

Carlos Alcaraz came through the sternest test of his Wimbledon title defence in round three as he outlasted American Frances Tiafoe to win a five-set thriller.

The 21-year-old Spaniard won a fourth set tie-break to take the match the distance and his class shone through in the final set.

"Obviously it is always a big challenge playing against Frances," the third seed said. "All I was thinking is 'fight one more ball'."

Should it go the distance again today, against 16th seed Ugo Humbert, Alcaraz will back himself once more given his record of 12 wins in 13 matches to go to five sets.

Meanwhile Humbert, the French number one, is in the fourth round at the All England Club for the first time since his debut appearance in 2019.

He has also come through in five already in these Championship when he battled Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko in round one.

Brandon Nakashima of the USA nearly took him to five in the last round, too, but Humbert edged the tie-break in the fourth to advance.

Paolini was excellent when I saw her on Friday and she's in great form again. Would love to see her get to the final.

    Goodness me!

Jasmine Paolini is not giving Madison Keys an inch and she races away with the double break.

Hang on, though. Is Keys going to recover a break? She brings up three opportunities when Paolini skews wide and lets out an almighty roar when she takes it on the second.

Just 19 minutes on the clock and we're ripping through these games.

Jasmine Paolini is doing so well at taking time away from Madison Keys. She's just smiling, she is really enjoying executing her game plan, she sees that it is bearing fruit.

She is enjoying the experience which is what she has looked like all year.

It doesn't look like she is playing outside her level.

Because she is exuding that comfort, I think that is actually adding to Keys' discomfort right now.

  8. Mixed doubles format changedpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 7 July

Tournament organisers have just announced a change in format for the mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

First and second round mixed doubles matches will be played as normal for two sets, followed by a 10-point match tie-break if the scores are tied at one set apiece.

The mixed doubles was meant to start on Friday but is only just getting under way today due to the rain delays.

What a start for Jasmine Paolini!

I’ve made my way over to Court One and the Italian is already bouncing around the baseline with that enthusiastic manner she has.

Italian seventh seed Jasmine Paolini is not messing around here. She gets off to a brilliant start with an early break of serve then consolidates with a tricky hold.

It looked like Madison Keys could break straight back there but Paolini holds her own and Keys skews wide.

All smiles for Emma Raducanu down on Aorangi Park.

The practice session started with a hit against fellow Briton Liam Broady.

Broady, as effervescent as usual, is encouraging with his conversation and regularly tells Raducanu how great she is hitting.

After a drop shot, Broady says the shot reminded him of Roger Federer.

Jasmine Paolini has been improving so much.

Today, the power of Madison Keys will be one of the key factors if she can keep the unforced errors at bay. That is always a difficulty for her.

She has so much power that sometimes she tends to overhit a little bit.

Liverpudlian Neal Skupski won the men's doubles last year at Wimbledon and is trying to defending his title this year - with a new partner, New Zealand's Michael Venus.

They're up against Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers in the second round.

That match is just under way on court three with Venus holding serve to get it started.

  15. Paolini taking on Keys on Court Onepublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 7 July

    Paolini v Keys

After a blustery, wet morning we're finally going to get some action on Court One.

Italian seventh seed Jasmine Paolini takes on American 12th seed Madison Keys, who reached the quarter-finals at SW19 last year.

The sun is out but the roof is on. No risks being taken here.

Paolini is enjoying her best year on the tour having reached both the singles and doubles finals at Roland Garros. But she faces a tough task in the experience of Keys today.

    Should be a cracker!

    Laura Robson

    Media caption,

Yulia Putintseva triumphs against top-seed Iga Swiatek

For Iga [Swiatek], I wasn't sure that this was her year on grass anyway.

Just purely because of the way she plays. It's so suited to the clay but on the grass court, the ball is just sitting up that much more.

She had a good start in the first set but then lost her concentration in the second set and allowed her opponent [Yulia Putintseva] into the match.

Putintseva is not to be underestimated, she won a tournament in Birmingham, she's coming in with huge amounts of confidence.

She's so challenging to play because she gets in your face a little bit and she makes a lot of balls. So she moves well side to side and she would have had huge motivation to win that match.

In some ways it was less of a surprise than it looks on paper.

After plenty of bet-hedging when the covers last came off, it has all been much more decisive this time with the nets quickly going up.

Fingers crossed that means everyone is confident that there will be a decent rain-free window to get some tennis on the outside courts and play can begin not long after 13:00 BST.
