Let's hope that the Spanish football team perform at a lower level than their tennis player. Doesn't bode well for the Three Lions otherwise.

The crowd are getting behind Djokovic. They want to see value for money, probably.

    *Alcaraz 6-2 6-2 0-1 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic, broken in the first game of set one and set two, does start the third set better, getting a hold in game one to give himself something to work with.

  4. 'It's extraordinary'published at 15:33 British Summer Time 14 July

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

It feels like Djokovic is being totally smothered in every single department. And when we normally talk about Djokovic, he's the ultimate challenge - he can do everything. But he's not being allowed to today due to the sheer pressure and intensity Alcaraz has brought into every single department, it's quite extraordinary.

  5. A rare three-setter?published at 15:32 British Summer Time 14 July

    Alcaraz 6-2 6-2 Djokovic

Looking at the record books, this is in danger of being as one-sided as the 2002 men's Wimbledon final was. On that occasion Lleyton Hewitt thrashed David Nalbandian 6-1 6-3 6-2.

We have not had a men's Wimbledon final only last three sets since 2018 when Novak Djokovic gained a straight-set win over Kevin Anderson.

I'm upstairs watching Le Tour de France, while my Serbian wife and Djokovic No 1 fan is downstairs. I am too scared to go down there right now. Could be a tense evening!!

  9. Game and second set - Alcarazpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 14 July

    Alcaraz 6-2 6-2 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is just being outclassed, outmoved, outwitted.

Murmurs of disbelief all around Centre Court as Carlos Alcaraz moves two sets up.

We started off today talking of a potential another five-set epic. At the moment it's looking like the champion up against a plucky qualifier in the first round.

How does Djokovic get back in this?

  10. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 14 July

Set point for Alcaraz. Djokovic had earlier leapt high and smashed away a winner, but Alcaraz needs just one point for a two-set lead.

  11. 'Alcaraz exposing Djokovic's forehand'published at 15:24 British Summer Time 14 July

    *Alcaraz 6-2 5-2 Djokovic

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Djokovic's movement is inhibited because he doesn't know which way the ball is coming, he's hesitant. There's very few areas he knows where to go into against Alcaraz.

And the forehand side of Djokovic, as great as it is, I feel has shown some fragility over the years and Alcaraz has just exposed that so far today.

I've never seen Djokovic this flat and full of disbelief but this is all because of the man who's about to serve for the second set.

Djokovic looking lost, the early strategy of serve and volleying was not working his way too win this match is still from the baseline he’s given Alcaraz the confidence now.

I don't think anyone was expecting this. Is this the start of the changing of the guard?

  15. 'Disbelieving look'published at 15:23 British Summer Time 14 July

    *Alcaraz 6-2 5-2 Djokovic

    Emily Salley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

A shake of the head from Novak Djokovic as he finds the net.

Then a disbelieving look towards the crowd as he double faults.

Even he can't understand what's happening.

  16. Alcaraz gets double breakpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 14 July

    *Alcaraz 6-2 5-2 Djokovic

An error from Djokovic at the net, missing when you'd expect him to make it, gives Alcaraz another break point.

A Djokovic double fault sees Alcaraz move a double break ahead, just as he was in the last set.

The Serb trudges slowly back to the chair. History has told us to never ever write Djokovic off. But these have been two incredibly one-sided sets.

    Alcaraz 6-2 4-2 Djokovic*

    Marion Bartoli
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

It's been one-way traffic since the break against Novak in the first set. Everything is going Alcaraz's way.

The speed this guy displays on the court is insane, I've never seen a player move that well on grass.

  19. Postpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 14 July

    Alcaraz 6-2 4-2 Djokovic*

A hold to love from Alcaraz. A brilliantly placed serve out wide, registering 126mph on the speed gun.

Djokovic at full stretch to his left gets a racquet to it, but won't want to be in that position too many times as it will be testing the strength of his knee to the fullest. The return goes long. And the scoreboard says 6-2 4-2.

Some people may need to wipe their eyes in disbelief, but it's true.

I’ve always thought that to beat Djokovic you have to play effectively three winners in each point as he always finds a way to win. And only the very best can do that. How the tables are turned here, Novak’s best suddenly just doesn’t look good enough.
