Summary

  1. Dart breakspublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 6 July

    *Dart 3-1 Wang

Three early challenges from Wang Xinyu, they've all been pretty close but the Chinese world number 42 has been bang on with each and every one of them.

It's not enough, though, as Harriet Dart wins her third straight game to move a break up.

Some really good, positive play from Dart has seen her force Wang back and start to dominate the rallies.

Harriet Dart will have had yesterday to recover.

I would assume she is feeling revitalised and she has the added benefit of playing against someone who is much higher ranked than her who she has beaten before.

I think she will feel quite clear on what she wants to do out there.

The Royal Box is filling up in no time and I can see a number of legendary stars taking their seats.

Won’t be long until we get under way now.

  4. Star-studded line-up in Royal Boxpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 6 July

There’s a huge line-up for Sporting Saturday in the Centre Court Royal Box. Clare Balding is on court to welcome some sporting legends to the middle Saturday at SW19.

    Drum roll please...

England cricketers Jos Buttler, Joe Root and Ben Stokes are joined by an absolute legend of the cricketing world - former India captain and widely regarded as one of the best batters of all time Sachin Tendulkar.

From the world of cycling, Dame Laura Kenny and Sir Jason Kenny are in the house. They have a monumental 12 Olympic medals between them.

Joining them is Sir Chris Hoy, making one of his first public appearances since his cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

And from the bike to the track, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Dame Denise Lewis are also in attendance.

And a trio of football stars. Lionesses captain Leah Williamson, who guided England to victory at the 2022 Euros, is joined by former England manager Roy Hodgson and the man who has led Manchester City to 17 trophies including a historic Treble last year - Pep Guardiola.

    What a cast!

If he continues to do as well as at this Championship, I look forward to viewing from the Fearnley Downs.

  8. Dart holdspublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 6 July

    Dart 2-1 Wang*

The first hold of the match and a comfortable one for the home favourite.

Harriet Dart holds to 15 and will be pleased with the way she's bounced back from been broken in the opening game.

Court 12 seems to be where it's at. There is lots of noise filtering over to court two, where I am sat.

"USA, USA, USA," are the chants I can hear. That's because Brandon Nakashima is battling in a fourth-set tie-break against Frenchman Ugo Humbert.

That's bound to be off-putting for Harriet Dart and Wang Xinyu.

  10. Dart breaks backpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 6 July

    *Dart 1-1 Wang

    Perfect response from Harriet Dart.

She gets the first set back on first as she breaks to 15. The British number two really had to work for it, especially at break point.

It's a lengthy rally but Xinyu Wang is long with a backhand to relinquish the advantage she earned in the previous game.

  11. 'Great first game to start with'published at 13:17 British Summer Time 6 July

    Dart 0-1 Wang*

    Johanna Konta
Former British number one on BBC TV

It's a great first game to start off with. There is just a bit of interest straight away.

Both players are doing exceptionally well for the beginning of the match with these sorts of conditions, they are making enough balls.

  12. Wang breakspublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 6 July

    Dart 0-1 Wang*

A tough first game for Harriet Dart.

The Brit saves two break points, the second of them with a scorching forehand down the line, but can't prevent Xinyu Wang at the third time of asking.

It's another strong forehand from Dart but it is called out. She challenges but to no avail. It was out by a blade or two of grass.

We're up and running on court two.

I have to say it's a bit chilly out here and the wind is blowing a gale which is not making it easy for Harriet Dart or Wang Xinyu.

I think there will be a few more of those wild mishits.

  15. 'Will be interesting to see how Dart fares'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 6 July

    Dart 0-0 Wang*

    Johanna Konta
Former British number one on BBC TV

It will be interesting to see how Harriet Dart fares today because that match [against Katie Boulter] was so emotionally draining.

It will have had an effect physically. It will be interesting to see if she loosens up for this one or if she is a bit tired emotionally which is all part of it.

    And they're off!

Harriet Dart is serving first and Wang Xinyu's wild forehand goes flying into the stands.

The players are just going through their warm-ups now and play will belatedly get under way shortly.

    Dart v Wang

Going into her last match against fellow Brit Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart had an unfavourable 1-6 head-to-head record. It's a different story this time.

Dart and Wang Xinyu have only met once and it was the Brit who took victory that day in 2022. Dart won 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in a qualifying match for a pre-Australian Open warm-up tournament held in Melbourne.

It's fair to say the stakes are a lot higher today...
