Brilliant crosscourt forehand winner from Sinner to seal the hold. A much more efficient one than Alcaraz started us off with in set three.

A loose forehand from Sinner puts these two level on 15-15.

A fist pump to himself on the baseline from Alcaraz. An early break would go down a treat for the Spaniard.

Ten aces after two sets is fairly standard, but it's the six double faults that are somewhat surprising from Carlos Alcaraz.

    *Sinner 4-6 6-4 0-1 Alcaraz

Sinner's forehand is a touch long and that hands Alcaraz game point.

A big ace down the T does the trick and that is a really important hold for the defending champion from 15-40.

  5. Alcaraz saves break pointspublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 13 July

    Sinner 4-6 6-4 0-0 Alcaraz*

First one saved with a 137mph ace.

The second one when Sinner's looping forehand goes long.

This game is so important for Carlos Alcaraz.

His intensity tends to rise towards the end of a set. He needs to reset so much quicker in this one. The concentration does waiver with Alcaraz.

Alcaraz needs to regroup after that second set and particularly that last game but he gets off on the wrong foot with a couple of errors for 0-30.

We shouldn't be surprised after what we saw from these two in Paris. Yet we somehow are.

  11. 'Sinner came up with the goods'published at 17:55 British Summer Time 13 July

The drop volley had too much height and Sinner was able to run it down. As the server, you always want to get that first point to give yourself a cushion. Alcaraz will be disappointed with that at such a crucial time in the second set.

What a response from Sinner! He didn't dwell on the first set and came up with the goods.

    Wow!

Jannik Sinner is on fire right now and he is stretched all over the court by some accurate shots by Carlos Alcaraz but he keeps on getting to them before firing a crosscourt winner out of the Spaniard's reach to take the second set.

We're all square, and what a contest this is proving to be.

"Gimme some love!" insinuates Sinner as he shakes his racquet in the air.

    Centre Court responds in kind.

The fleet of foot he showed to reach that ball was, well, Alcaraz standard.

Fantastic crosscourt winner by Jannik Sinner on the stretch, having looked to those watching that Carlos Alcaraz had put his volley at the net just out of the world number one's reach.

Sinner throws up a clenched fist and the Centre Court crowd shows their appreciation. Superb tennis.

    Sinner 4-6 5-4 Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz races into a 40-0 lead and that prompts him to be a bit more risky with his shots and a delicate dropshot doesn't come off.

Still, he's in a good place for the hold and he wraps it up with another ace.

But Jannik Sinner is serving for the second set.

Good serving from Sinner. His serving has improved significantly in this set and it needed to, because he was struggling to get free points.

    Sinner 4-6 5-3 Alcaraz*

    Tim Henman

It is interesting to see Alcaraz drop way back to receive the serve, very aggressive. He is looking for the break back, as he did in the first set.

Alcaraz is just missing his targets and that was a comfortable Sinner service game.
