Everton v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Brentford

Ivan Toney has been linked with a move from Brentford for months and asked whether Saturday's 5-1 win over Luton was a glimpse of life after the England forward, boss Thomas Frank said: "Potentially, let's see what happens with Ivan. But it's important to see the quality we have in the squad. It was promising."

On Toney's fitness: "Ivan is progressing. He is better and [we have] a hope he is available for Saturday. There is one more training so let’s see."

On the return of fellow forward Bryan Mbuemo, Frank added: "I think the big thing is we knew that we'd miss Ivan for a big part of the season, and of course it was a loss but I was confident that we went into the season and didn't buy another striker.

"We got Neal [Maupay] in on loan to help the squad, but I thought the other players were good enough. But if you also take out the next player in line, which is Bryan, then it becomes a bit tricky."

  9. 'Calvert-Lewin was outstanding'published at 14:55 25 April

Everton v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's performances and whether the striker could make the England squad this summer for Euro 2024: "This season, he hasn't been too bad on the injury front but it just goes to show you when you've had a couple of indifferent years with injuries, it does take time to clear your mind of it, clear your body of it and to have that total freedom.

"And that's what we planned, me and him, to get to a point where he can play freely, and he's had moments that he has done. I thought last night he was outstanding. I said to him, that's the kind of form and performance that gets you back around that England thinking.

"It's too early yet; I'm not making big, bold statements or anything like that. I know Gareth [Southgate] will have players who he thinks are relevant to his group, but certainly with that type of feeling towards [Calvert-Lewin's] performance - and of course, scoring - he should be recognised where he is as a top centre forward in my opinion."

  10. Team news: Mykolenko 'unlikely' to featurepublished at 14:50 25 April

Everton v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Everton

Sean Dyche on team news to face Brentford: "Vitaliy Mykolenko is unlikely. We'll see how that settles; he'll need a scan on that to know the truth on it, but it's not great on the early signs.

"Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had a bit of illness, so we're hopeful that that'll pass. He had that before the game, so I have to commend him on that, as I thought he was outstanding."

  11. 'Brentford are a decent outfit'published at 14:45 25 April

Everton v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche on the visit of Bretford: "That's the challenge. That's why I nipped it in the bud last night. Of course I said enjoy the moment, but I said let's go and do it again.

"It's a decent outfit in Brentford. They had a funny spell themselves and come out of that. Thomas [Frank] is a fella I like; I know him, I've spent a bit of time with him, I like what he does, how he talks - I like him as a person as well.

"It's not easy. They are no 'gimmies' in this league. I praised the players first last night and then said 'right, tomorrow we come in and get on with business.

"We've taken big steps, but there are more to come. We can control the situation ourselves, and that's what we have always aimed to do - even with the points taken away and all that sort of stuff. Grip hold of it and let's run with it and I think we're beginning to show that again.

"Three wins out of four now: three home wins, clean sheets, good signs."

  12. 'Important games to come'published at 14:41 25 April

Everton v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche on Premier League safety now being in the club's own hands: "Well, it certainly says we're sticking to task, whatever comes at us - I'm certainly proud of that, because we've had some ups and downs ourselves.

"I think the challenge has been fromt outside, with the points [deductions], and I think everyone agrees with that. I said to the players immediately after last night... they've got to enjoy it. It means a lot to the fans in this locality - and to me, of course.

"But it has to be parked because another one is coming around. Another important game, another chance, another opportunity to play at Goodison and get three points, so there is a lot on the next game. So they do have to have a window to enjoy that last night."

  13. 'It was a good performance and we deserved to win'published at 14:36 25 April

Everton v Brentford (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche on how he feels about the Merseyside derby victory over Liverpool: "Obviously, very pleased, for a number of reasons.

"Firstly, the literal performance, which was very good. The tactical side of the game, which is always a wonder to a manager and coaches; have we got it right? Can we deliver it? And they did.

"Lot of respect for Liverpool for the things they are trying to achieve and the things they have done, but I though it was a good performance and we deserved to win.

"And then when you add in the fans in the stadium, which I though was terrific - and I thought was same against [Nottingham] Forest as well - and I thanked the fans for that, because the ugly performances, the ugly outcomes, we all took a bit of heat for that, but we held our hands up, stayed connected to the team; I thought that was on show against Forest and it was certainly on show against last night.

"It was a win on all levels, not just three points."

"He was at Ajax while I was at Anderlecht in Belgium and I've seen the quality of his teams and what he's been doing. On the contrary, there's a form of respect here but it's more about our business."

And finally, on his favourite memories as a player at Old Trafford: "I want to build memories as a manager at Old Trafford so I'll put the playing memories aside for now."

"If you go through the history of this season, for me it's pretty special. To say the mood is good, yes it is, but on very few occasions have we had a defeated mentality or attitude within the club. It's just not existed, not since I've been here at least."

The fact I got sanctioned after doing so, even if it wasn't an intentional comment, was completely right. How we then navigate sensitivities, I think that's also a fair question to discuss with the powers that be."
