A fourth man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a man who was shot dead.

Connor Brookes, 20, was shot on Well Lane in Blakenall, Walsall, just before 17:00 BST on Monday 8 July.

The fourth suspect, aged 20, was arrested at an address on Mason Street in the Coseley area on Wednesday, on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

He remains in custody, and Mr Brookes’s family have been told of the development, West Midlands Police said.

A 22-year-old man has previously been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were also arrested and bailed with strict conditions, meaning they must stay out of Walsall while inquiries continue.

Mr Brookes's family issued a tribute earlier this month, saying he had a "heart of gold" and was a "beautiful son, brother and uncle".

"We are all devastated at the loss we have suffered, such a tragic loss of life at such a young age when he had his future ahead of him," they said.

Another man was wounded and treated in hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
