Bristol in pictures: Images from across the city
- Published
There have been some spooky goings-on this week, while city centre visitors found themselves being taken back to Bristol's past by street performers.
A big name from the rap world delighted punters at a Stokes Croft bar, and in Southville thousands of candles illuminated a churchyard to help people remember their loved ones.
All this and more is included in our weekly image round-up.

After dark: A magical event for "grown ups" at work hub and events space the PIT in Totterdown offered wine, art and a spellbinding contortionist.

Keeping watch: Visitors to the Christmas Steps on Saturday found themselves rubbing shoulders with characters from different eras in Bristol's history. Rope walkers, almshouse workers and even an air raid warden acted out stories from down the centuries. The performers will be back on Saturday 7 December, external to spin some festive yarns.

Team effort: The technical staff and musicians enjoy a moment of celebration after the SWX concert by Bristol blues singer Elles Bailey, True Strays and Demi Marriner. While the audience only sees the performers on stage, there is usually a big backroom team that makes events happen.

A moment to reflect: Thousands of candles were lit, some by passers by, at St Paul's Church in Southville on Saturday night. The annual Light the Night event gives people a chance to remember a loved one.

Double take: A trail of surreal sculptures of street furniture by Kent-based artist Alex Chinneck has been installed near Temple Meads Station to mark the opening of new city centre workspaces.

Big name, small space: Rapper Talib Kweli made an appearance at The Social in Stokes Croft on Friday. The American artist packed the place out for a free show after his appearance at the Marble Factory on the other side of the city.

Learning new skills: Staff from Circomedia are holding regular sessions for over-50s at Knowle West Healthy Living Centre, allowing people to learn how to spin hoops, plates and get to grips with juggling. You can watch more on this story on BBC Points West.

If you dare: Fans of spooky sights looking for the scariest displays in Bristol this year had the benefit of a new interactive map. Natasha Marriott came up with the idea after the crowds coming to check out the ghouls in her garden in Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire, got bigger every year.

Auction: Some recognisable items from Bristol Zoo are being sold at auction, giving people the chance to own a piece of history from the Clifton site.

Theatre: An intimacy co-ordinator has been helping actors in the latest production at the Bristol Old Vic to feel safe while stimulating sex on stage.

Chess Grandmaster: Christopher Jones, a prolific composer of helpmates, said chess had become more popular during lockdown and was "more of a cool thing to do now because of a younger demographic".
