There has been plenty going on in the city this week, from community events to the launch of Bristol Bears' new European kit and the Bristol Coffee Festival.
It's also the time of year for making jam, and getting ready for a certain spooky date at the end of October.

Bristol Bears captain Fitz Harding got a new hairdo, external at Jacobs Barbers on North Street in Bedminster, his bold look matching the club's new European strip which was released last week.

Horseplay: Legendary Bristol outdoor party group Alfresco Disco held a final summer event at The Avon Riding Centre on Saturday, raising funds for the charity which runs it. Alfresco Disco, who hold their events at unusual locations, are about to celebrate their 20th anniversary and say they have "big plans" to celebrate it.

Alfresco Disco events often take place at locations which are not revealed to ticket holders until soon before they begin, adding to the intrigue of the parties.

Jamming session: St Paul's Church in Southville hosted its annual BS3 Jammin' event last Sunday, with local residents bringing their fruit and vegetables which were turned into jams, chutneys and more on a day set up to reduce waste but also support the BS3 Community Foodbank.

Caffeine fans: Bristol Beacon has been hosting the Bristol Coffee Festival this weekend, a chance for the purists to try new flavours, brews and equipment.

Spooky: Staff at Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park are already gearing up for Halloween. From 28 September, visitors can pick their own pumpkins there. From 4 October, after-dark activities begin and then, on 11 October, the FEAR Scream Park will bring all its ghoulish entertainment. Visitors of a nervous disposition will be provided with "scaredy-cat" lanyards so the actors involved know to keep their distance.

Light it up: As the hours of daylight shrink, pockets of the city are lit up by floodlights after dark as sports that were being played in evening sunshine a few weeks back now need man-made illumination to carry on. This picture was taken on Thursday at Imperial Sports on West Town Lane in Brislington.

Celebration time: Pupils at St John’s Church of England Primary School in Keynsham returned for the new term to the news they are being turned into model citizens - that's in the view of Ofsted inspectors who rated the personal development of children at the school as "outstanding".
