A £1,000 bonus is being offered to anyone aged between 18 and 21 who becomes a bus driver in Guernsey.

CT Plus, which runs the island's bus services, said it had introduced the sign-on bonus as part of a recruitment campaign to find more drivers.

The company added a decision by the States of Guernsey to lower the age people can become bus drivers from 21 to 18 had been beneficial and attracted off-island interest.

Recruitment and careers fairs are also part of the company's plans to boost staffing levels in all areas of the business including engineers, it added.

CT Plus said once fully qualified, bus drivers in Guernsey can earn a minimum of £40,000 per year.

The firm said: "We continue to be proud of our team and can guarantee no two days will be the same as you enjoy the best views the island can offer."
