Zero hour contracts under scrutiny after increased use

Zero hour contracts - which give employees no guarantee of work but require them to work on demand - are on the rise in the UK.

The Department of Business has already raised concerns about them and in June launched a review into their use.

Lizzie Cowley is from The Work Foundation - which has organised a meeting with union leaders, ministers and employment experts to scrutinise the contracts.

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money, 'You don't need to take up hours offered if you're an employee, but anecdotally any evidence suggests people fear... losing their jobs if they don't take these hours on."
