Free school meals: Nick Clegg defends coalition policy
Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg, has defended the coalition's free school meals policy against accusations of mismanagement.
Mr Clegg announced the £1bn policy late last year, which would see all pupils under seven in England given free school meals by September.
In a joint Times article, external on Thursday, Education Secretary Michael Gove and Lib Dem schools minister David Laws declared they were "not at war" over funding.
Speaking on Radio 4's Today programme, Mr Clegg said the money would be provided to support headteachers in implementing the scheme, insisting the programme was properly budgeted.
