'Clear evidence' loneliness affects recovery of cancer patients

A new study suggests that loneliness is having a devastating impact on the lives of people diagnosed with cancer.

A survey of more than 1000 cancer patients found that one in five felt lonely as a result of the disease, and they were almost five times as likely to remain housebound for a number of days.

BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt spoke to Sonia Wilson, who struggled with loneliness after being diagnosed with bowel cancer, and Fran Woodard from Macmillan Cancer Support which commissioned the report.
