Ebola: 'Promising vaccines' close to being available, say US experts
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has ruled that experimental drugs can be used to treat patients infected with the Ebola virus in West Africa.
The WHO said it was ethical in light of the scale of the outbreak and high number of deaths - more than 1,000 people have died in West Africa.
Dr Tom Frieden, from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that while there were only a "handful of doses" of experimental drugs, there were some "promising vaccines" close to being available to treat the disease.
