BBC's Lord Patten: 'I hope select committee is dignified'

BBC Trust chairman Lord Patten has said he hopes Monday's appearance before the Public Accounts Committee over the size of severance deals at the corporation is "dignified".

He is one of seven senior BBC figures being questioned along with former director general Mark Thompson and the BBC's head of human resources Lucy Adams.

He said: "I hope we can have a reasonable exploration of what's gone wrong and of the issues without it getting in to too much bitterness and wrangling."
