Keanu Williams: 'Corners being cut' with child protection
A serious case review into the murder of two-year-old Keanu Williams has found police, social services and health workers "failed" to prevent his death.
The toddler died after suffering 37 injuries, including a fractured skull and torn abdomen in January 2011.
His mother, Rebecca Shuttleworth, 25, was convicted of Keanu's murder and is serving a life sentence.
A former director of social services, Professor Ray Jones, says there has been a 40% year-on-year increase since 2008 in cases of vulnerable children in the UK.
He added that there were 450,000 children in contact with a social worker in any one year, and people were "cutting corners just to get the job done".
