Fuel poverty: 'Leaky homes' must be better insulated

Four of the big six energy companies have announced price rises in recent weeks, adding pressure to household budgets over the winter.

It is estimated five million people in the UK are already living in fuel poverty, which means they spend more than 10% of their income on heating their homes.

The campaign group Energy Bill Revolution - an alliance of charities including Age UK and Barnardo's - says that figure will rise further and become a national crisis.

Campaign director Ed Matthew urged the government to make insulating homes the UK's top infrastructure priority.
