Cavendish crashes on first day of Tour de France

More than 1,000,000 people are thought to have lined roads in Yorkshire to watch the first stage of the Tour de France.

There had been hopes that Britain's Mark Cavendish would end the day with the leader's yellow jersey, but he was injured in a crash close to the finish in Harrogate.

BBC sport correspondent Andy Swiss was following the action.
