Autumn Statement: How bad is the deficit?

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury has said that the deficit is not falling as quickly as the government would like.

Danny Alexander said the Autumn Statement would be the last "big event" in the economic policy of this parliament.

And he said the deficit was not falling as fast as the Coalition would like because less tax was coming in than had been expected.
