Coronavirus: Whitty 'not confident' new measures will be enough

England's chief medical officer, Prof Chris Whitty, has said he is "not confident" new proposals to slow the spread of coronavirus will be sufficient in areas with the highest rates.

However, Mr Whitty said there is "a lot of flexibility" within the new three-tier lockdown system to allow local authorities to do "significantly more" than base restrictions.
