Spaghetti Junction in numbers
Spaghetti Junction in Birmingham was opened to motorists on 24 May, 1972.
It took four years to build the junction, which is officially called Gravelly Hill Interchange.
A Burton-upon-Trent coach firm ran guided tours to see it after the completion of the work, which cost £10m.
The junction is designed to last 120 years.
