Ear implant woman Joanne Milne meets Osmonds

A woman who heard sound for the first time in her life five months ago, thanks to cochlear implants, has been approached by members of the pop group the Osmonds to become an ambassador for a deafness charity.

Joanne Milne from Gateshead received widespread media attention when an online video of her hearing her first noises went viral in March.

The Osmonds, who have deafness in their family, heard Ms Milne's story and wanted her to become an ambassador for the Osmond-run charity, the Hearing Fund UK.

Merrill Osmond and his son Justin, who is deaf, came to Newcastle to meet her.
