MPs reject votes for inmates plan

MPs have voted overwhelmingly to keep a blanket ban on votes for prisoners.

It intensifies pressure on the government to defy a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights which said the ban should be lifted.

If the ban stays, the government could have to pay millions in compensation to prisoners.
