Phone hacking: Metropolitan Police accused by Commons committee

The chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee said if there had been "a thorough investigation of the facts" those involved in phone hacking could have been dealt with earlier.

Keith Vaz told Jo Coburn there had been "no thoroughness" in an earlier Metropolitan Police investigation.

Police stand accused of a "catalogue of failures" by the committee which called for extra resources for the investigation so victims can be informed more quickly.
