EU referendum vote: Mark Pritchard and Matthew Oakeshott
Lib Dem Lord Oakeshott accused Conservative rebels of wrecking the UK economy and coalition agreement - pledging Britain to play a "strong and positive role" in Europe. And the peer expressed surprise to be agreeing with Foreign Secretary William Hague over the Europe vote.
But Tory MP Mark Pritchard said Europe was going to more of an issue as he explained why up to 90 backbenchers were prepared to defy the government in a vote on Monday evening, calling for a referendum. He called on the government to have an 11th-hour change on the vote, and downgrade it to a one-line whip.
