Malcolm Rifkind on UK role in EU and eurozone problems

A former foreign secretary said Britain did have the right to speak about the euro - as a collapse of the currency would hit the UK - after David Cameron was criticised by the French president over involvement in eurozone talks.

Calling himself a eurosceptic, Malcolm Rifkind said the "middle of a massive economic crisis" was not the time for a referendum vote, as he recalled the European problems which plagued John Major's 1990s government in which he served.
