David Cameron denies charities tax relief u-turn
David Cameron has denied any change in the government's plans to limit the tax relief on charitable donations, after Downing Street announced it would launch a formal consultation over the idea.
The planned cap has been criticised by Labour and philanthropists, as well as some senior government figures.
The prime minister insisted that he wanted to see more charitable giving, but that he wanted to end the practice of wealthy people minimising their tax bill - sometimes to zero - by donating to charity.
