London 2012: 'Pointless to apologise for UK weather'
Thousands of athletes and officials are arriving in London for the Olympic Games, as questions remain about the recruitment of security staff.
Preparations for London 2012 have been intensifying with the opening ceremony just 11 days away.
At a new briefing, Sports Minister Hugh Robertson was asked whether he would be apologising for the British weather, but he said it would be ''pointless''.
''Top international sportsmen and women prepare for all eventualities,'' he said.
He added that the Games would be ''safe and secure''.
