Mark Harper: UK immigration figures and policy changes
Britain was getting "more selective" over immigration which has seen figures fall by a third in the year to June 2012, compared with the previous 12 months, said Mark Harper MP.
The immigration minister said it "reflected policy changes" with fewer people arriving to do unskilled work and fewer applications for family visas, leading to the "best and the brightest" heading to the UK while "rooting out abuse" over student visas.
He spoke to Jo Coburn and Richard Madeley about plans to see figures continue to fall towards the 2015 general election.
He said figures show 55% of immigrants came from outside the European Union, 30% from EU states, and 15% were UK residents returning home.
