Margaret Hodge on Fraud Office G4S investigation

Calling in the Serious Fraud Office to investigate G4S overcharging for tagging criminals in England and Wales was the "right thing to do", said the chair of the Public Accounts Committee.

Labour MP Margaret Hodge said there should be more "openness" in the contracting of public services to private providers.

She said: "I want the National Audit Office to be able to go into G4S and see how they spend your, and my, taxpayers' money when they provide a public service."

Justice Secretary Chris Grayling said the government had been charged for tagging people who were not actually being monitored.
