Labour conference: Miliband on Syria and Islamic State

Ed Miliband opened his conference speech by talking about the British aid convoy volunteer who has been kidnapped by Islamic State (IS).

Alan Henning is a taxi driver from Salford, a few miles from where the conference is taking place in Manchester.

The Labour leader said his party supported the overnight military action by the US and five Arabs nations against IS, also known as ISIL. And he said the UN needed to play its part to secure international support.
