Jacob Rees-Mogg on European Arrest Warrant vote

The government has not given the vote it promised on the European Arrest Warrant (EAW), said a Tory backbencher.

Jacob Rees-Mogg said the Monday night vote would be on "ten statutory instruments", and not on the EAW, as MPs were led to believe.

And he accused the home secretary of a "mixture of scaremongering and speculative guarantees", while the warrant was a big step to "Europeanising" the justice system.

The MP told Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics: "It's important to note the vote tonight will not be on the European Arrest Warrant at all."
