Ed Miliband calls for new rules to reduce energy bills

Labour leader Ed Miliband is calling for a vote in Parliament to enable the energy watchdog, Ofgem, to force energy companies to reduce customers' bills when wholesale prices fall.

Chancellor George Osborne has launched a Treasury investigation into whether energy companies are passing on the savings.

Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr, Ed Miliband said it was time for the government to "put their money where their mouth is" and make a difference to householders.
