PMQs: Cameron and Fox on Trident, Labour and SNP deal

During Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, former Conservative defence secretary Liam Fox called on David Cameron to confirm there would be "no shabby deal" over Trident, and the UK would keep the deterrent.

Mr Fox was referring to reports of a potential Labour and SNP deal after the general election, which could hinge on the nuclear weapons issue.

Mr Cameron said his party would "make sure it was properly renewed" in the next Parliament, and called on Labour to rule out a deal with the Scottish Nationalists.

He claimed: "No-one wants to see some grubby deal between the people who want to break up the United Kingdom, and the people who want to bankrupt the United Kingdom."
