Transport Secretary Grant Shapps claims rail restructure will simplify fares

The biggest shake-up in the UK's railways since privatisation in the mid-1990s has been announced by the government.

A new state-owned body called Great British Railways (GBR) will set timetables and prices, sell tickets in England and manage rail infrastructure.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the move would simplify fares and create accountability.
