Strike threat over Bridgend council pay freeze row

Unions say strike action could be possible if Bridgend council does not change proposals for a pay freeze.

The council says it can not afford a 1% rise for everyone, and wants to freeze pay for all but the lowest-paid workers.

Trade union representatives will meet the council's cabinet to formally oppose their decision to opt out of the national pay system.

First Minister Carwyn Jones - speaking as the area's AM - told BBC Wales he is willing to meet with unions and Bridgend council to help resolve the pay dispute.
