£20m 'game changer' standards boost for Wales schools

Forty underperforming schools across Wales will be expected to show improvement "at pace," says Education Minister Huw Lewis.

The schools are taking part in a £20m Welsh government scheme to improve the quality of teaching and learning by sharing expertise.

Each school has been chosen to receive £500,000 each, as part of Schools Challenge Cymru.

Similar schemes have been running successfully in London and Manchester for nearly a decade.

BBC Wales' education correspondent Arwyn Jones reports.
