Sirte civilians 'kept hostage by Gaddafi fighters'

The forces of Libya's transitional government have fought their way into the centre of Sirte, one of the last cities loyal to ex-leader Col Gaddafi.

Mahmoud Shamman, the Information Minister for the National Transitional Council told the BBC the forces were attempting to keep civilian casualties down but civilians are being "kept hostage by Gaddafi fighters".
