Australian PM: 'All governments gather information'

The Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, has refused to comment on claims that Australia's intelligence agencies spied on the phone calls of the Indonesian president and close confidantes.

The allegations came from documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden and were published by broadcaster ABC and the Guardian newspaper.

Responding to questions in parliament, Mr Abbott said that he would not do anything to damage his country's relationship with Indonesia.
