Battle for Sinjar: Preparing for the Yazidis to return

After recapturing Sinjar from the so-called Islamic State (IS), the Kurdish Peshmerga are seeking to establish a buffer zone large enough to protect the Yazidis, who are expected to return after being forced to flee for their lives last year.

Work is underway to clear the Iraqi town from landmines and booby traps planted by IS.
