Dramatic Rockies rescue after man plunges down mountain
A man has been described as "lucky to be alive" after he slipped and fell while descending a 14,000-ft (4200 m) mountain in the Rockies.
Richard Walker's head hit the rocks when he plunged 50 feet (15 m) down the North Maroon Peak; he broke his back and his jaw in the fall.
He was bleeding heavily from his nose and mouth and gasping for breath.
The first attempt to rescue him by helicopter failed, but climbers managed to lower him to an area where he could be lifted to safety.
