    Conservative candidate Anne Main retained her St Albans seat with a majority of 12,732 over second placed Labour candidate Kerry Pollard.

    Mrs Main got 25,392 votes and Mr Pollard received 12,660 votes.

    Liberal Democrat Sandy Walkington was a close third with 10,076. Chris Wright for UKIP got 4,271 and the Green's Jack Easton 2,034.

    Conservative candidate Steven Baker retained his seat with a majority of 14,856 over Labour candidate David Williams.

    Mr Baker received 26,444 votes, compared to Mr Williams' 11,588.

    UKIP's David Meacock received 5,198, Liberal Democrat Steve Guy got 4,546 and the Green's Jem Bailey received 3,086 votes, with independent candidate David Fitton getting 577 votes.

    The Conservative candidate received 30,534 votes, giving him a majority of 21,810. Michael McGough (UKIP) came second, and Liam Preston (Labour) third.

    Labour candidate Clive Lewis won Norwich South from former Liberal Democrat MP Simon Wright, who was beaten into fourth place.

    Mr Lewis, who was a BBC reporter, won 19,033 votes, a majority of 7,654 over Conservative candidate Lisa Townsend.

    Green Party candidate Lesley Grahame won 6,749 votes with Mr Wright in fourth with 6,607 votes.

    Ben Gummer's victory in Ipswich will come as a big boost for the Conservatives, on what is turning out to be a very good night for the party.

    Mr Gummer won the seat in 2010 but was neck to neck in the polls with David Ellesmere ahead of yesterday's voting.

    In the end there was some daylight between the pair, with Mr Gummer's 21,794 votes 3,733 more than Mr Ellesmere's total. UKIP came third, with 5,703 votes.

    Conservative candidate Richard Harrington retained his Watford seat with 24,400 votes beating the town's Liberal Democrat mayor Dorothy Thornhill into third place.

    Ms Thornhill received 10,152 votes and second place Matt Turmaine got 14,606 votes for Labour.

    UKIP's Nick Lincoln got 5,481 votes, the Green's Aidan Cottrell-Boyce received 1,332 votes and Mark O'Connor for TUSC got 178 votes.

    Conservative Shailesh Vara cruised into first place in Cambridgeshire North West, to keep hold of his seat.

    Mr Vara took 52.5% of the votes, with his 32,070 votes almost trebling that of second place Peter Reeve, of UKIP.

    Conservative candidate Michael Ellis won the Northampton North seat with a 3,245 majority over Labour challenger Sally Keeble.

    Mr Ellis won 16,699 votes, while Ms Keeble got 13,454 votes.

    Tom Rubython for UKIP was beaten into third place with 6,354 votes.

    Green Tony Clarke received 1,503 votes and Lib Dem Angela Paterson got 1,401 votes.
