    The Tory stronghold of the eastern region has become even stronger. The Conservatives have held on to seat after seat, some in the face of fierce competition from Labour and they added to already large majorities in many places.

    North Norfolk MP, Norman Lamb, is the only Lib Dem MP left in the region after Sir Bob Russell lost his seat after 18 years as the MP for Colchester. Simon Wright also went and Dr Julian Huppert was ousted from the flagship city of Cambridge.

    Mark Lancaster has won Milton Keynes North for the Conservatives with 27,244 votes - ahead of Labour's Emily Darlington with 17,491 votes.

    UKIP's David Reilly got 6,852 votes with Liberal Democrat Paul Graham getting 3,575 votes.

    Jennifer Marklew for the Greens got 2,255 votes, Katie Simpson for the TUSC got 163 votes and Independent David Mortimer got 112 votes.

    Conservative Jonathan Djanogly's vote rose to 29,652, in Huntingdon, with a 53% share, increasing his majority by 14.8%.

    UKIP candidate Paul Bullen almost trebled his vote to 9,473, coming third behind Labour's Dr Nik Johnson.

    Cheryl Gillan has retained her Chesham & Amersham seat for the Conservatives with a large majority.

    Ms Gillan got 31,138 votes, 23,920 more than UKIP's Alan Stevens with 7,218 votes.

    Labour's Ben Davies got 6,712 votes with Liberal Democrat Kirsten Johnson in fourth place with 4,761 votes. The Green Party's Gill Walker got 2,902 votes.

    It's been an excellent night for the Conservative party in the East, while the Liberal Democrats appear to have been hit very hard. Veteran MP Sir Bob Russell has lost his seat in Colchester and Julian Huppert suffered a defeat in Cambridge.

    It's also been a challenging night for Labour, who have failed to win repeatedly in their target seats and lost Corby. It was a difficult night for UKIP, too, who failed to win Castle Point.

    Mark Prisk has held his Hertford & Stortford seat for the Conservatives with 31,593 votes, a majority of 21,509 over Labour's Katherine Chibah.

    Ms Chibah received 10,084 votes. Adrian Baker got 7,534 votes for UKIP and Liberal Democrat Michael Green got 4,385 votes.

    The Green Party's Sophie Christophy came fifth with 2,681 votes.
