Leader of the Scottish Conservatives Ruth Davidson has arrived at No 10 for talks with Mrs May ahead of the Cabinet meeting.

Ms Davidson has new-found clout at Westminster after her party won 13 Scottish seats in the election.

But she has hinted that she wants Mrs May to change course on her Brexit objectives.

Ms Davidson, who was a high-profile Remain campaigner ahead of the EU referendum, wants the UK to keep the "largest amount of access" to the single market after Brexit.

She has also called for what she describes as an "open Brexit", which prioritises free trade and country's economic interests over curbing immigration.

  19. Replay: Is it time for laws to be recorded on paper?published at 14:11 British Summer Time 12 June 2017

From the Daily Politics in 2015

    The Daily Politics

An annual saving of £80,000 could be made in Parliament by using paper instead of vellum for formally recording Acts of Parliament, a committee of MPs has said.

But calligrapher Patricia Lovett said the Domesday Book and Magna Carta have only endured physically because they'd been made up - at least partly - of long-lasting vellum, which is itself made from calfskin.

In this Daily Politics clip from October 2015, she spoke to presenter Jo Coburn, Tory MP Paul Scully, and Labour MP Anna Turley about the bid to keep using vellum.
