Donning a foreign designer marks a departure from the tradition of wearing American designers on the convention stage, but London-based label Roksanda has found favour with many a political wife. Michelle Obama, with whom Mrs Trump has drawn many comparisons over the past 24 hours, too has donned Roksanda before. Samantha Cameron wore the designer as her family departed Downing Street last week.

When Donald Trump announced his intention to run for president, many people dismissed his candidacy as a joke.
No one is laughing now.
Over the past year, the property developer from New York has turned American politics upside down, seeing off seasoned political operators with potent populist rhetoric.
Mr Trump has attracted support and disgust by combining attacks on illegal immigrants and Islamic terrorists with promises to bring back jobs lost overseas.
He sums it all up in one simple — and controversial — slogan: Make America Great Again.
As the nomination was confirmed inside the convention centre in Cleveland, the streets outside were thronged with police and protesters, both for and against the tycoon-turned-politician.
Expect much, much more of that in the run up to November’s vote which promises to be a presidential election like no other.
